Tips on Caring for your Smart Cover
Buying a SMART COVER is an investment in your hot tub. This guide presents maintenance tips that can save you money and extend the lifespan of your cover.
1. Always remove any debris from your cover before removing it from your hot tub. Use a soft sponge or cloth for this purpose.
2. The cover itself should just be rinsed off with fresh water (NOT the water in your hot tub) at least once per week. This helps reduce the build-up of harmful concentrated chemicals.
3. Remember that your cover needs to breathe. Remove your cover for at least an hour every time you use a shock treatment for the water. This will prevent a chemical build-up that could eat away at the material.
4. You need to check and adjust the thermostat of your hot tub. Using a SMART COVER will make your hot tub more energy efficient. The tub should not run more than 30 -35 Celsius at any time.
5. You will use LESS chemicals when your hot tub is fitted with a SMART COVER. It is IMPORTANT therefore to keep the hot tub water at the optimal standard.
Optimal pH range: 7.2 – 7.8
Anything below 7.0 the water is acidic, which means there is a risk of corrosion of metals & finishes, staining of tub surfaces and equipment, burning or itching of the eyes and skin, hot tub water will turn a shade of green.
Anything above 7.8 the water is alkaline, which means some disinfectants are not so active, and you may experience problems of scaling due to the precipitation of calcium salts, burning or itching of the eyes and skin, hot tub water will turn cloudy.
6. Always store your SMART COVER in a shaded area when not in use. We suggest showing guests how to remove and where to store the cover when not in use as part of your introduction to the room/villa.
